By now, it is very clear how much I adore a good pair of shoes. And as the promotional emails are pouring in each day, I peek to see what is new for the Holiday season (just so I don’t miss anything, or so I convince myself). Alice + Olivia have these gorgeous shoes out that are too sweet for words. Who wouldn’t want a pair of strawberry heels? I sincerely need these beauties! And oh yes, there is a clutch to match!
To keep in the thankful theme of this week, and to prolong fall just a little bit longer, who wouldn’t want to be in awe of the beautiful fall colors and their reflections in a crystal clear body of water? Let’s travel to Buena Vista, Colorado and just spend the day at Cottonwood Lake. And even if we don’t make it for the fall season, winter wouldn’t be too shabby there either. We could try a little ice hockey and camp out!
Like so many of you, I need a nice cup of coffee or tea to start my day. And I find it to be that much more enjoyable in a cute cup. I am not a morning person by any stretch of the imagination, and all the talking I need before I finish my coffee is via these mugs. I can’t decide on just one, but this is perfect for the holiday season!
With the holidays coming up, a really good gift idea is a funny, unique, conversation starting book. My absolute favorite place for the best books is Urban Outfitters. They have a book for any occasion and every personality. Add on one of their funky ornaments or a candle, and call it a day! That is, after you wrap it (and oh yes, they have wrapping paper and the best cards, too)!
When I was out and about trying to gain some inspiration for Thanksgiving, I came across these maple leaves at Party City. I didn’t know what exactly I needed them for, but I decided to purchase them just in case. Continue reading
I am sure that many of you feel this way, but I have to come right out with it and ask: What is up with Thanksgiving always being overlooked? The fact that so many retail establishments are open at 10 p.m. or midnight of Thanksgiving Day to provide us greedy people with a deal that, in all honesty, isn’t that much of a sale to begin with, is sad. It’s something that I always felt bad about, even before I worked in retail. It is a day to give thanks. It seems that immediately after we eat, we forget our manners and rush away to prep for the next big holiday, never taking that extra minute to appreciate not only one another, but the calm of this holiday. Yes, the food may be expensive, but the company is priceless and there are no gifts or pressure involved.
Even at the stores right now there are hardly any decorations for Thanksgiving. It looks like Santa took over. It made me wonder if this impacts children. Do they know the history of Thanksgiving and appreciate what the day stands for?
One touristy thing that I have always wanted to do is to skate at the ice skating rink in Rockefeller Center. It just seems like it would be so magical to be around the tree, the decorations and in the heart of the city. I’ve gotten goosebumps while watching the skaters so I know it would be so special to actually skate there!
One of my favorite shops to gain decorating inspiration from, or just to drool over items I one day want to own, is West Elm. West Elm has it all: Stunning lighting fixtures, cute throw pillows, gorgeous furniture; items at all price points that are the perfect addition to your home.
Uncommon Goods is another favorite shop of mine. I sometimes visit their site just to see what is new. I love their Personalized Porcelain Faux Bois Mugs, ideal for a wedding gift. I am telling you- you won’t find gifts like these anywhere else!
Thanks to Instagram, I have another favorite blog and website, Waiting On Martha. I love shopping her site because she has the sweetest items for your kitchen table (who doesn’t love a little gold glitter on a placemat)? I am in love with her holiday dishes and gifting options. There is honestly something for everyone, along with great gift options for men, women and pets.
My favorite place to purchase macaroons from is called Bisous,Ciao and is located in New York City.
I made the horrible mistake of walking by Bisous,Ciao one summer day in August and was instantly curious upon seeing such a line of customers that literally wrapped outside of the bakery and all the way down a busy sidewalk. To not want to get in said line, I convinced myself that they were handing out free macaroons, as there was no way they could be that good.
But they are that good. They are in fact, amazing. Continue reading
