I was delighted to receive an email from travel enthusiast Kendra Thornton who invited me to participate in a fashion challenge where I would have the opportunity to pick out outfits for her upcoming vacation with her family to Orlando, Florida. Here is a better explanation, from Kendra, regarding the challenge and the trip.
Travel enthusiasts enjoy going on vacation, and I am both a travel enthusiast and a mommy! I love spending time with my kids and my husband, and I’m super excited that we’ll be together for a few weeks in Orlando soon. I’ve been planning our trip with the help of Gogobot, an awesome online booking site. I booked a great family-friendly hotel, and I’ve found a lot of fun activities and attractions for us to enjoy together as a family. I’m especially looking forward to our family adventure at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The Challenge I’m almost ready to head out on this fun family vacation, but I need your help first. As a mom, I know there will be plenty of opportunities for family photos during our trip. I want to make sure I look good, regardless of which side of the camera I happen to be on. Besides, I always enjoy myself more when I feel stunning and confident in the fashion I’m wearing. Will you help me select the best combination of fashions and accessories for my family excursion to Animal Kingdom? Take a look at this description of one of the show’s we’ll be enjoying in order to inspire your recommendation. Finding Nemo—The Musical My kids love watching Pixar’s film Finding Nemo, so I know they will enjoy Finding Nemo—The Musical at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The big blue world comes alive on stage with fantastic sets and backdrops as well as innovative lighting that creates the ocean effects. Favorite characters from the movie will take the stage as ornate puppets, and the show also includes several large, animated projections. Vibrant colors inspired by the Great Barrier Reef, home to Nemo and Marlin, accentuate this incredible production, and new songs bring new life to the characters we know and love. This will be the perfect way to relax and cool off after adventuring outdoors and seeing the exotic animals here at Animal Kingdom. Vacationing in Orlando People from all over the world come to spend their vacations in Orlando. In fact, this city is one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations, and it’s particularly popular with families due to the family-friendly attractions and many spots that offer special amenities to those traveling with young children. I always have a great time on my visits here, and part of the reason I’ll enjoy my time in Orlando the most when I look my best. I’m eager to discover what look you recommend for my family adventure to Animal Kingdom. I know we’re going to have a wild time together there!
From peeking at Kendra’s photos, I loved seeing that her fashion style included colors! With her beautiful blonde hair, I knew instantly what I wanted to “dress” her in.
With help from Polyvore, I created three looks for Kendra. Being that she will be visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom, I wanted to have her unleash her leopard style with a flowing leopard maxi dress, perfect for Florida! I love a pop of orange and found dressy sandals that would be ideal for walking. And while she may be in Florida, if she goes inside of buildings, sometimes the air conditioner can be a bit chilly, so giving her a light scarf came to mind in that same shade of orange. The easiest bag for travel is for sure a crossbody, which is the perfect size to fit a camera, phone and the essentials for her family.
For attending the musical, a palette of blues came to mind. Giving her the option of shorts or cropped skinnies (I am voting for the shorts), I went with a cobalt blue. An airy dolman top in teal will help give the vibe of the ocean. It’s longer sleeved to help with the chilly indoor temperatures, but light enough to not be overheated when outside. If she were to wear a tank under the top (I am thinking in the color grey or white), it is a good option for removing the teal dolman top if she gets too warm.
To tie the theme of Nemo and fish, I wanted to add an element to incorporate the feeling of “fishing,” though I would never fish for Nemo. I loved the idea of adding on a tassel necklace, similar to the tools people use to attract fish to them. I added a pair of trendy gladiators and again, a cute crossbody.
And for fun, a swim look! Channeling Disney, I wanted to bring Minnie Mouse into the picture. Since Kendra is a mom, straps are vital in swimwear. I fell for this black-and-white polka dot one piece with the white belt. So chic! I added hot pink to really bring out Minnie with the towel and the bag.
I also would recommend Kendra head to Boston Proper to shop for last minute items for her trip. Their latest collection would be ideal for her, as they are all about leopard, blues and gorgeous swimwear and coverups.
Wishing Kendra and her family the best vacation and safe travels. I thank her for this opportunity and for such sweet emails. Waking up to an email titled, “I love your travel fashion lifestyle blog!! So inspiratio
