Last Tuesday, M of Hearts went live! It’s strange to think of how it started out as a little idea last November, and now it’s officially a real ‘thing.’ While it’s slowly and surely sinking in, I want to take a moment to thank those of you who have been following, supporting and encouraging me to do this. Hope-in-a-Jar Cakes

My family lives in various states and cities and we all try to get together at least twice a year.  This past August 4th, my siblings, sister-in-law, niece and nephews ventured to Cleveland, Ohio to not only spend the day together, but to celebrate my Mom’s birthday.  Each of us ‘kids’ brought a dish to the party and I was delighted when I was asked to bring the dessert (okay, so maybe I strongly hinted that I wanted to make the dessert).

The Added Touch

I used to work for a well-known retail brand for many years.  Throughout my employment with them I learned a great deal about excellent customer service, leading a team and creating visually appealing displays.  Being a category manager for a particular department, the company would periodically have an event thrown, about quarterly, which would take place after store hours.  I would be in charge of booking a DJ, planning the event (as far as what employees would be working and in which areas of the store), publicizing the event via social media and getting the associates excited.  Since this was an event featuring new product, the associates were already looking forward to it!  But it’s a lot of work.  It is an extended day for them, so I always try to think outside of the box to build a little bit more excitement.  And to be honest, we all need a hint of sugar to get us dancing with the DJ and the customers!
